Visualizing Recidivism
As part of my work for the Rural County Alternative Prosecution and Diversion program (RCADP), I conducted extensive analysis on jail booking and screening data to identify patterns in recidivism over time and in relation to risk factors. This led to the creation of a public recidivism dashboard designed to explore relationships between the social determinants of health and recidivism. The findings reported in this dashboard include elevated recidivism rates among individuals who report having no housing, employment or transportation. These associated are widely known and documents in other studies. The main utility of this dashboard is to quantify those rates in Coconino County to understand these dynamics at the local level and identify areas for increased programming and attention.
The publicly available dashboard can be found here. The dashboard is also linked in the RCADP program website.
